MotoArt’s L-1011 Tristar PlaneTags not only continue the legacy of these iconic aircraft, but also give the opportunity to own a piece of fuselage covered in authentic 23k gold leaf. Lockheed’s only commercial jet, our L-1011 spent its life with Arabic royalty.
Our plane was fit for kings from the start. It was built in 1983 as JY-HKJ and served as the private jet for the King of Jordan and the Jordanian Government. In late 2001, it was purchased by Al Anwa Aviation to fly Prince Abdul Aziz Al Ibrahim and was reregistered as HZ-AB1. The Prince, known as a globe-trotter in pursuit of pleasure, had the interior and exterior renovated, transforming the plane into a majestic, flying palace. AB1 was furnished with everything needed to provide the Prince and his guests with the comfort and extravagance they were accustomed to.
Flying aboard this Tristar was opulence among the clouds. The interior was lavishly decorated from top to bottom with sumptuous fabrics, fine wood cabinetry, gold-plated fixtures, and even gold seatbelts and ashtrays. AB1’s crowning glory, however, was the thick river of 23k gold which flowed from nose to tail of the plane – the type of finery expected by a Prince for his palace in the sky. Read more about it on our PlaneTags blog.
HZ-AB1 was withdrawn from use in 2013 and stored for the remainder of her years at Victorville. In 2021, MotoArt began the painstaking process of creating a lasting memento of this royal aircraft by preserving the 23k gold leaf found on these luxurious PlaneTags. This is the first time our tags are decorated with authentic gold. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to own the thickest PlaneTag produced to date -the thick, all-gold PlaneTags are very limited in quantity. PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.

With the few L-1011 releases, the -500 release is one of my favorite just for how many patterns and golden shine from the gold show through.
This combination of blue and gold looks awesome, and it’s even better knowing it’s a cut of an L1011!
Another tag in my collection that was an impulsive hype purchase. It looks great in the display, though, and the gold leaf really stands out.
Lockeeed L1011 TRISTAR500 # 1534 of 10,000 Tail#HZ-AB1 It was a clear night, with a full moon, you could the dry flat lands for miles. The wind was mild, bringing the fragrances of the meadows, you could see the starts, beautiful stars all over the sky. STAMPEDE!!! STAMPEDE!!! STAMPEDEEEEEE!!! and I ran with the rest. After all the dust settled here I am with a thick/fat, fat, fat and fat tag with a layer of Gold.
Love the thickness of this tag! Such a substantial piece of metal to hold in my hand. Love it!
The gold tags are stunning, but priced high. However, it was worth it to get the gold-blue combo when it was on sale for a better price. Love the L-1011
Ordered the thin gold and wow I'm not disappointed with what's probably the prettiest tag available.
The gold thick is exactly what it says. This is one of the thickest tags I have ever owned and is just a beauty to look it. Knowing it real gold is also a huge plus!
I love the tag so happy I bought it, it arrived very fast. I had originally got one for my friend but loved it so much I had to get my self one.
Two of my favourite colours are blue and gold. I have seen this aircraft in VCV a number of times and was so happy that MotoArt were able to get thier hands on it. The tag and the gold colour is pretty amazing.
Retaining ring broke when unpacked - allowed tag to fall onto the floor damaging it which is a shame because it is a fantastic memento! I have other tags and think the quality and presentation is usually first class from Planetags!
Being a retired Lockheed Martin employee, I've been collecting all the Lockheed Plane Tags I can find. I purchased the "thick" version of this gold tag and it is absolutely stunning.
It's great to have a piece of such a special plane
I bought the tag for one of my employees. He and I both worked the jet when it was the king of Jordan’s; although, he was on it when it was built and I later duty a refurbishment. That was the program he met his wife on. It was incredible that I was able to give him a piece of history. Like this.
Amazing tag. As usual the printing was spot on, and the finish as well. The best way to bring home a gem that brings back memories and great times
I purchased the thick tag and was not disappointed. The tag is very thick, second only to the NASA launch pad tags. It is thick and a beautiful, resplendent gold color. It shines wonderfully in light and will not disappoint you if you purchase one. I recommend picking one up before they disappear as there are not any other tags like it!
Great nice piece of aviation and King of Jordan Thank you
I love it! Same great quality as all the other tags. Great job Dave!
This tag is beautiful, The condition of the gold leaf is amazing. This is easily one of my top 5 favorite tags!
10/10, an excellent item from a glorious aircraft.
