As the world began tightening its borders in March 2020, C-GSAT, an Airbus A310, simultaneously performed Air Transat’s last A310-300 revenue flight and repatriated Canadian citizens stranded in Portugal due to flight restrictions. MotoArt welcomes C-GSAT to the PlaneTags fleet. Read more about the plane's history on our blog.
The twin-engine, twin-aisle widebody Airbus A310 was the most profitable jetliner of its class, offering lower operating costs and maximum flexibility in seating arrangements for operators, and a roomy, comfortable flight for passengers. The A310 led the way in commercial jetliners use of composites, using carbon-fiber materials in its vertical stabilizer, as well as composite spoilers, landing gear doors, and floor struts. The 14 A310-300s used by Air Transat seated 250 passengers in a two-class configuration and were used for long haul passenger flights from Canada to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Europe. They were already slated to retire but unprecedented schedule changes due to COVID flight restrictions brought about an even earlier retirement for the A310 fleet.
OUR PLANE'S STORY
C-GSAT, an Airbus 310-308, took its first flight in November 1991. It was delivered to Emirates Airline in February 1992 as A6-EKH, one of the airline’s ten passenger A310s; by May 2000, it was flying as 5Y-KQM for Kenya Airways. In August 2001, the plane became C-GSAT and joined the Air Transat fleet, where it would remain for the rest of its career. On March 30, 2020, Air Transat Flight #TS765 performed its last revenue trip, a repatriation flight from Portugal to Toronto.
MotoArt rescued this A310 in its vivid “Welcome” livery from Canada in 2021. Add Air Transat A310 PlaneTags in a variety of colors to your collection today. Return to travel, in style, with PlaneTags.
