Since 2001, MotoArt has established itself as the premier workshop handcrafting one-of-a-kind furniture from the salvaged parts of decommissioned aircraft. Our artists have skillfully transformed wings, fuselage, cowlings, and more into custom desks, bars, tables, and other unique creations. With a desire to share aviation history with a wider audience, we introduced PlaneTags in 2015.

The Art Of Honoring Grounded Aircraft

It's heartbreaking to see historic planes decay in boneyards, their vivid exteriors fading under the sun. We see beyond the metal to the rich stories these military, commercial, and vintage aircraft carry—from their flights and passengers to the pilots and wartime missions. Driven by respect for these tales and your connections to them, we're dedicated to restoring these aircraft and sharing their legacy with aviation enthusiasts worldwide.

Finding Aviation Treasures

Our team tirelessly searches worldwide for notable aircraft in deserts, forests, and abandoned hangars, leveraging our extensive aviation network to uncover legendary planes hidden under tarps and storied war heroes tucked away in remote corners. It's an honor to unearth these iconic fuselages and share their stories, giving them another chance to captivate and inspire.

Preserving Aircraft Authenticity

After salvaging a plane, we meticulously hand cut sections from the fuselage, preserving the original skin, paint, patina, and wear. The tags capture the plane's stunning colors and distinctive graphics. Holding a PlaneTag means you're holding a piece of aviation history that once soared through the clouds.

Crafting Unique PlaneTags

After meticulously cutting large fuselage sections into smaller pieces, we hand-stamp each PlaneTag, creating the iconic oval-shaped mementos cherished by travelers and aviation enthusiasts worldwide. Our process includes cleaning the aircraft skin, removing grime, polishing, sanding, and deburring edges to ensure a smooth feel while preserving the metal's authentic patina. Each PlaneTag is uniquely handcrafted, numbered, and distinct—ensuring that while you share a piece of aviation history, your tag remains uniquely yours.

Precision Laser Etching for PlaneTags

We use high-grade laser etching systems to meticulously inscribe detailed specifications, such as the aircraft’s make, model, tail number, and unique limited edition number onto each PlaneTag. The process blends art with science, involving complex calculations for precise design placement and accommodating custom messages on request. After a final inspection, each PlaneTag is mounted on a descriptive card that includes a brief history of the aircraft, ready to enhance your collection or give as the perfect gift for an aviation enthusiast.
