Just received the combo tag and the blue and white tag. Really, these are, in my opinion some of the best Planetags I have ever seen. The workmanship and the colors are really amazing. I am surprised that these are not selling at a faster rate. Considering that only 50 L-1011-500 were constructed, and a sum total of 250 L-1011s, this makes these tags a rarity. Compare to the thousands of 747s and even DC-10s, the L-1011 is truly an aviation rarity. Another fact: there is only ONE flying L-1011 worldwide. Want to see it? Then visit the Mojave Airport and there you will find the Stargazer L-1011 operated by Northrop Grumman to launch satellites. It's well worth it. It is supposed to be retired in the near future which will mean the end of the L-1011 as an actual flying aircraft. I wouldn't hesitate and buy one of these glorious Planetags before they too, vanish into aviation history.
The L-1011 was the first widebody I ever flew on (on a 1 hour domestic flight oddly enough) when I was about 10 years old. I remember being so amazed by it when it pulled up to the gate. Now having a piece of one is really exciting since so few were made. The planetag is great and I'm very happy with it!
I bought one of the combo tags - at the moment, the thick-gold is a little rich for my blood. The combo is gorgeous! The gold-leaf portion has a burnished finish, with a protective layer of clear laminate over it. The dark blue portion is also lovely, a deep, rich, glossy finish. Definitely fit for royalty. The design is perfectly struck (the vintage Lockheed logo is a nice touch - perhaps Moto can add that to the remaining HA L-1011 tags) but not deep. Overall, a very nice Tag and well worth the money.
This golden Planetag is truly impressive! A hunk of a tag. I purchased an L-1011 rack to go with it. The thin golden tag is also beautiful. One should consider that only 250 L-1011s were built, so these are rare. Yes, expensive, but worth every penny!
This tag is beautiful, and hefty! Of course, I don't plan on using it as a bag tag. This one's strictly a collectible. To answer Anthony L., the thick tags came from the window area, where the metal needs to be very thick.
It’s way too heavy to be of any use. The substantial tag makes it useless to put it on your keychain or on your baggage. It could be use as a bathroom key at the a.m. p.m. mini mart is people to misplace the key I’m curious what part of playing this came from
Fast processing and shipping. The tag itself is flawless ;)
