MotoArt PlaneTags Bringing Rare Aircraft Tags and SR-71 Giveaway to Sun ’n Fun 2026

    • by Dianna Lopez

Pop-up store to feature 200+ aircraft, including rare and sold-out pieces

MotoArt PlaneTags will exhibit at Sun ’n Fun Aerospace Expo, April 14–19, 2026 in Lakeland, Florida, with a pop-up store featuring PlaneTags made from more than 200 aircraft.

Attendees can browse a wide selection of tags, including current releases, rare colors, and a limited number of sold-out pieces not typically available online.

Visitors can find MotoArt at space N-097, outside Hangar A near the Compass Rose.

Visitors who sign up for the MotoArt mailing list at the booth will receive PlaneTags swag while supplies last.

MotoArt will host a giveaway of two SR-71 Blackbird PlaneTags, with entries collected at the booth and winners announced during the night shows on Thursday and Saturday. An additional SR-71 PlaneTag will be awarded to a customer who makes a purchase during Sun ’n Fun.

The SR-71 remains one of the most sought-after aircraft in the PlaneTags collection, with limited availability.

“Sun ’n Fun is a great place to connect with people who care about aviation history and collecting,” said Dave Hall, founder of MotoArt. “We’re bringing a wide range of aircraft so visitors can experience that history in person.”

MotoArt, based in Torrance, California, has created PlaneTags from more than 250 retired aircraft, preserving aviation history through authentic materials.

Visitors can find MotoArt PlaneTags at Sun ’n Fun from April 14 through April 19. More details will be shared on MotoArt’s social channels.

The Gulfstream That Helped Preserve Walt Disney's Airplane

When the Palm Springs Air Museum set out to restore Walt Disney's personal Grumman Gulfstream I, the project required more than skilled craftsmen and historical photographs. It also required another airplane.

N193PA, a Grumman G-159 Gulfstream I, became an essential part of the restoration, serving as a donor and reference aircraft that helped restoration specialists faithfully return Disney's beloved Gulfstream to its original appearance. After fulfilling that role, material from N193PA was carefully preserved and transformed into PlaneTags, allowing collectors to own a piece of an aircraft that helped preserve aviation history.

Even better, proceeds from this PlaneTags release will help support the Palm Springs Air Museum and its ongoing mission to preserve and share aviation history.

Before the Legend: The F4H-1F That Proved the Phantom

On February 15, 1960, an F4H-1F Phantom arrived aboard USS Independence with a fundamental question to answer: Could the Navy’s powerful new fighter truly operate at sea?

Every legendary aircraft has a beginning.

Long before the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II became one of the world's most recognizable military aircraft, it was simply an ambitious new design with something to prove. The U.S. Navy envisioned a supersonic, twin-engine fighter capable of defending carrier battle groups in the rapidly changing Cold War environment. On paper, it was impressive. The question was whether it could successfully operate from an aircraft carrier. One aircraft would help answer that question.

BuNo 143391, built as F4H-1F and later redesignated the F-4A Phantom II, became the sixth production Phantom ever built. While later Phantoms would earn their reputation in combat around the world, BuNo 143391 helped establish that reputation before the aircraft ever entered fleet service.
