Own a piece of aviation history with the Boeing 727-200 Advanced N292WA PlaneTags. Delivered new to Western Airlines in 1980, this trijet later joined Delta Air Lines after the 1987 merger. For more than two decades, it carried passengers across North America, bridging the legacies of two iconic airlines. Now preserved as PlaneTags, N292WA celebrates the golden age of the Boeing 727 and honors Delta’s 100 years of aviation excellence, a century of innovation, service, and timeless journeys.
OUR PLANE'S STORY
Boeing 727 N292WA began its life with Western Airlines in May 1980, one of the last jets delivered before Western’s historic merger with Delta. With its slogan, “The Only Way to Fly,” Western relied on aircraft like the 727-200 Advanced to connect its hubs in Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and Denver to destinations across the West, Mexico, Canada, and Hawaii.
On April 1, 1987, Western merged into Delta Air Lines, and N292WA was repainted in Delta’s iconic Widget livery. It became part of Delta’s vast 727 fleet, nearly 200 aircraft strong, serving passengers across the U.S. until its retirement in January 2003.
Delta retired its last 727 in 2003, marking the end of an era. But instead of being forgotten, N292WA’s legacy continues as part of the PlaneTags Delta Collection.

PlaneTags are Handmade Aviation Tags
- Authentic - made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal.
- Unique - each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags.
- Collectible - each one is numbered in a limited edition and comes attached to a display card.
- Versatile - comes with a durable metal ring, strong enough to attach to luggage or keys or display.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag.
