The early retirement of Delta’s trusty Mad Dogs ended an era, but the memory of these iconic aircraft will live on! MotoArt has created lasting mementos from the original skin of N905DA, and allowed it to be preserved long after the remaining MD-90s are gone. Add the McDonnell Douglas MD-90 PlaneTags to your collection today and join us in honoring these storied Mad Dogs.
Additionally, for each PlaneTag purchased a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Delta Care Fund. The Delta Care Fund was established in 2007, and operates completely on employee contributions. The Fund’s goal is to help current employees, retirees, and their survivors in the event of financial hardship, catastrophic events, or assistance for continuing education at an accredited college or university.
OUR PLANE'S STORY
On June 2, 2002, Delta’s tireless Mad Dog departed on its final scheduled revenue flight. DL90 took off from IAH at 6:05 a.m. and landed in ATL at 8:39 a.m., marking the end of 25 years of service for the MD-90s. Between 1995 and 2020, Delta operated a total 71 MD-90s. MotoArt is honored to celebrate the legacy of this workhorse, and welcome the famed Mad Dog into the PlaneTags Encyclopedia of Aviation History.
The McDonnell Douglas MD-90 is a mid-size, single-aisle airliner developed from the MD-80 series that features a 4 ¾ foot longer fuselage and more powerful, quieter, turbofan engines. “The aircraft for the future” was delivered to launch customer Delta Air Lines in February 1995. N905DA was constructed as a MD-90-30 and was one of Delta’s original “Sweet 16” MD-90s. Delivered April 29, 1995, she flew exclusively for the airline until January 4, 2019. The following day, ‘905DA was retired and stored at Arkansas International Airport, Blytheville, Arkansas. Read more about it on our blog.

- Collectible - each one is numbered in a limited edition and comes attached to a display card.
- Versatile - comes with a durable metal ring, strong enough to attach to luggage or keys or display.
- Please Note: Due to limited quantities, combination colors you may receive will vary.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag.
