MotoArt’s newest aircraft is a Boeing 727, dressed in the rich blue and grey of one of United Airlines' most recognizable liveries. N7262U flew the friendly skies exclusively for United from 1978 until retirement in 2001. Rescued from scrapping in 2021 it has been given a new purpose as part of the PlaneTags collection.
As Boeing’s only trijet, the 727 is a three engine, narrow-body airliner designed to fly short to medium routes into smaller, regional airports. Designed to minimize dependence on airport infrastructure, the 727 could:
N7262U spent the latter half of her life wearing United’s “Battleship Grey” livery. The upper fuselage was painted a silvery grey, and the belly a deep midnight blue, both separated by orange, red, and blue stripes. The tail had alternating bands of medium and dark blue and featured the “Double U Tulip”. The Tulip was designed in 1974 by graphic designer Saul Bass and was used until 2010 when it was replaced by the Globe tail logo as a result of the United/Continental merger. *Important Notice – Please Read Carefully
PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.

The tag makes a wonderful gift for someone who is or was in aviation or just likes certain airplanes or aviation companies.. Easy to order the tag and came on time. There was a very small piece of paint missing on the tag which to me made it more authentic. Also, there was a note about imperfections which is to expected. Thanks for the tags and saving pieces of these great airplanes!
It is really cool! Former United FO, but flew 737-300/500. Very proud to have it on my travel bag!
Tag is typical MA product: well cut, good engraving and nicely finished. The righteous downside was that I paid 33% more for a combo tag....and got a tag with less than 10% combo. The combo portion was at the bottom of the tag and covered about 5mm. It is a First World problem and I totally get that. But when I have to pay extra to get a combo, I am expecting a little more combo. The sad thing is I found other people online who got even less than me. I cannot even unload this thing now because no one wants to pay for it. I have had mainly good experiences with MA and hope this is a one time thing.
Amazing detail and love the illustration of the 727 on the card that holds the tag!
... of the explosion of tags (both Moto Art and others) They used to be unique and interesting and worth the price, but I've stop collecting because of the price, uninteresting aircraft and its now become commonplace. For example, who wants B-17 that never went to war? or a Huey “N” model that no one has ever heard of? or a piece of the shuttle launch pad? Heck, I have actual Columbia tiles that we're a fraction of the launch pad price point and we're a part of the actual vehicle that went into space.
I Love collecting the Commerical tags and this one from UAL is another perfect edition to my collection. Great quality, color and thickness. Always love what Motoart and Planetags produce.
This item along with the other s have been always great. Love my collection.
Really amazing tag. The color is also very impressive.
I remember watching and hearing United's 727 take-off from ORD in the 1990's as a kid. They were a common sight and a favorite aircraft. The plane tag is great to hold in hand and the paint is well preserved.
