Beechcraft Starship 2000A - PLANETAGS TAIL #N515JS

    Beechcraft Starship 2000A - N515JS

The Beechcraft Starship is a twin turboprop general aviation aircraft. In 1980 Beech began developing the Starship to cement its position as the dominant force in the turboprop market, having already wrested this title with its King Air family. With oil shortages and recession in recent headlines, turboprops promised fuel and cost efficiency. And by using composite construction the plane could be lighter, faster and even more fuel efficient.

    Bold & Daring Design

The Starship continues to be one of the most technologically advanced aircraft of its kind. Designed by famed aircraft designer Burt Rutan and Scaled Composites, it features a variable sweep forward wing, two rear mounted pusher turboprop engines that provide a quiet, jet-like smooth ride, digital avionics, and an all glass cockpit. It was also the first all-composite business class aircraft ever built. The first concept plane flew in 1983, but the full size aircraft itself experienced costly and time consuming design changes, production delays and other issues that kept it grounded until 1986. Between 1988 and 1995, only 53 Starships were built.

In spite of its futuristic, beautiful design, it was a financial failure. Its production costs led to a high sticker price, so very few were sold. Beechcraft’s parent corp Raytheon grounded the fleet and recalled them all. All but a handful were scrapped at Marana. A couple are still privately flown and maintained, and an additional few are displayed in museums.

    MotoArt’s Starship: N515JS

N515JS, construction number NC-52, was built in 1994 and certified airworthy on January 27, 1995. It was leased to Osborn Energy from 1997 to 2003, then recalled and stored at Pinal Park, Marana, AZ with the remaining fleet. MotoArt acquired it in 2021, preserving this once promising, incredible looking aircraft and its history in the PlaneTags fleet.  Read more about it on our blog.

Don’t miss out on adding a Starship to your collection. These PlaneTags are especially unique as they are cut from its carbon fiber composite construction. With only 53 Starships ever built, these collectibles are a rare treat for any collector.

      PlaneTags are Handmade Aviation Tags

      • Authentic - made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal.
      • Unique -  each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags.
      • Collectible - each one is numbered in a limited edition and comes attached to a display card.
      • Versatile - comes with a durable metal ring, strong enough to attach to luggage or keys or display.

      - Please Note: Due to limited quantities, combination colors you may receive will vary.

        The legendary starship

The composite, all white tag represent what is great about the star ship: a clean crisp design. One of my favourite aircraft, so this tag was a must.

        Wonderful tag

Took a little bit to get to me, but I absolutely love the Beechcraft Starship and to have a piece of one as my own is absolutely amazing to me. I'm so happy with my purchase and so glad for what PlaneTags provides.

Great Looking Piece of a Rare Airplane

With a relatively small number of these aircraft ever produced, it's amazing that Planetags was able to get a piece of one. I remember seeing posters of the cockpit of this airplane, and how modern it looked. This was such a futuristic looking design, I have always been fascinated by it. I'm so glad to be able to display a piece of this futuristic aircraft in my collection!

        Beechcraft Starship 2000A - PLANETAGS TAIL #N515JS

Beechcraft STARSHIP 2000A #0565 of 5,000 Tail# N515JS A few years ago I saw one or two landing in at SBA and that was enough for me. An aircraft ahead of its time and underappreciated of what it was that deserves to be part of a collection. This was my first non-metallic tag and I felt a bit uneasy at first, now everything is carbon fiber.

        Love this unique tag!

I just received my PlaneTag from a Beechcraft Starship. I remember when they first showed up at the National Business Aircraft Association (NBAA). I saw it with my father who was a professional pilot. One of the early Starships was out at Addison (ADS) for a while and I got to ride in it. I never was rated for Starship but loved it from the start. The unique composite material and the canard wing design. The only thing that would make this better would be some way to engrave but I'll use a marker instead. I've ordered a few tags now for the whole family> O grew up with planes and learned to fly young (soloed at 16) and now my youngest child is a pilot at age 25 and starting to pursue a career in aviation.

Great piece of an intriguing plane

My tag arrived quickly and weĺl-packaged. I love the shape of the Starship. It was too bad that the use of hot, heavy CRT displays (and the requisite added weight of higher-capacity cooling systems) turned a modern marvel into an "also-ran."

        Great Besides Grey Etching

This is a really cool tag and I love seeing the honeycomb pattern on the back. Feels high quality. Great packaging too with the history of the aircraft and even the specific plane. My only complaint is that in the picture online the etching on the tag with the plane and wording is black, when in reality it's a light grey, therefore less legible. You can still certainly read it but I think the picture on the website makes it more clear than it really is and is misrepresentitive.

Trying to stop a new addiction!

I love all five of my new plane tags! I am trying to resist buying everyone you have! That however, would lead to my kids only seeing me in the weekends!

        Lovely memento of Aviation History

PlaneTags are nice mementos of aviation history. Many years ago I had the privilege of flying on a Starship. This tag and others I have purchased are ways of connecting to events of the past.
