Originally intended as a transport plane for WWII, the DC-6 rolled off the assembly lines in 1946 after being re-worked for the long-range commercial transport market. It flew as one of American Airlines’ famed Flagship planes, as an air tanker fighting fires, and most notably as The Monkees tour plane during the Summer of Love. Cut and engraved directly from the skin of a historic Douglas DC-6 decommissioned airplane, this limited edition, one-of-a-kind Plane Tag has been resurrected from its time in the clouds to live on as a versatile and practical memento. Over 100 years after humankind’s mechanical marvels conquered the skies, you too can hold a token of the immense feat of aviation in the palm of your hand.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.

We ordered this tag for my niece because she loved The Monkees. While the tag is awesome, we were a bit disappointed that the card had nothing about The Monkees. We had to track down our own info, make our own card and give it to her. In short, tag awesome...card is a little lacking. Still nice, just know this up front!
Great purchasing experience. I bought this as a gift for a dear friend who was the flight attendant for the Monkee's during the 1967 tour on this very airplane so she was thrilled to have a piece of it
Was supposed to be a tag from the Monkeys tour plane. But nowhere on the tag or paperwork does it state that it was their tour plane. That’s the whole reason that I bought it.
I have not bought a plane tag yet that I haven't enjoyed. Some based on flying that gear and others just for fun memories. I grew up when the Monkees were big and having this plane tag is a nice memory. Two thoughts: 1) change the cardboard to note that it was the Monkees plane. 2) Is it possible to send older Planetags back to have y'all add the personal information? When I first bought them - it was not an option and I don't want to re-purchase them. Thanks!!! ken
Always a great experience shopping with MotoArt. The personalized tag came out perfect and looks great. Thanks again!
Super duper! Loved every bit of it, such a cool present idea
Great experience, Christmas gift and both parties loved it!
These tags are so unique. I chose this one because my birthday falls on the 6th. It's a reminder of much I love airplanes and aviation.
