Full Noise, a Yakovlev Yak-3UA, represents a rare continuation of one of World War II’s most respected fighter designs. Built in 1993 using original Soviet tooling and later campaigned in the Reno Air Races Unlimited class, this aircraft bridges wartime engineering and modern competitive flying. Parts removed during restoration after an accident were acquired by MotoArt and transformed into authentic PlaneTags, preserving a unique chapter of aviation performance history.

    OUR PLANE'S STORY

The Yakovlev Yak-3 first flew in 1943 and became one of the most effective Soviet fighters of World War II. Designed for low-altitude combat, it was lightweight, agile, and highly responsive. It replaced earlier Yakovlev fighters in frontline units and represented the peak of piston-engine development before the jet age reshaped military aviation.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, original Yakovlev factory tooling and engineering drawings made it possible to construct a limited number of continuation aircraft. Between 1991 and 2002, only ten Yak-3s were built using this original tooling. ZK-VVS is one of those ten.

Configured as a Yak-3UA, this aircraft was fitted with an Allison V-1710 engine, the same American V-12 used in aircraft such as the P-40 Warhawk and P-38 Lightning. The Allison engine provided reliable performance and supportability within the modern warbird community.

The aircraft later competed in the Reno Air Races Unlimited class as Full Noise, representing New Zealand as the only WWII fighter team from the country to race at Reno. In 2017, it won Heat 1C and Unlimited Heat 3B and advanced to the Gold Final. In 2018, it qualified at 362.77 miles per hour. In May 2023, during a takeoff operation at Omaka Aerodrome, Full Noise experienced an overrun at the end of the runway and ran off into a fence. The pilot was not injured, and the aircraft sustained substantial damage but was expected to be repairable.

    Perfect Aviation Gift

    PlaneTags are:

      • Authentic - made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal.
      • Unique -  each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags.
      • Collectible - each one is numbered in a limited edition and comes attached to a display card.
      • Versatile - comes with a durable metal ring, strong enough to attach to luggage or keys or display.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag.
