What is it about the Boeing 757 that has captivated airlines and passengers? The 757-200s were flexible workhorses, reliably transporting passengers and cargo to their destinations throughout their long careers. Check out N905AW, a Boeing 757-200 and the latest aircraft to join the MotoArt PlaneTags fleet.

N905AW was constructed as a 757-2S7 in 1986 and began its career with Republic Airlines (which later merged with Northwest Airlines), in May 1986. In November 1987, N905AW transferred to America West Airlines, adopting the call sign “Cactus.” To celebrate America West’s hub in Columbus, Ohio, in 1995 N905AW was decked out in Ohio state colors and named “The City of Columbus.” It was absorbed into US Airways in 2006, then American Airlines when the two airlines merged in 2013. This merger united two of the oldest airlines in the U.S., and created the largest airline at the time. American Airlines had 177 757-200s, many of which were inherited from US Airways. N905AW retired in November 2015 after nearly 30 years of service. MotoArt acquired the skin from this derelict aircraft before it was scrapped, in 2023.
The Boeing 757-200 is a medium to long range, narrow body, twin engine jetliner that was first introduced in 1983 as a replacement for the 727. The 757 was 80% more fuel efficient than the 727, even with its higher capacity and range. It also boasted a glass cockpit which electronically displayed flight information, enabling the flight crew to access information immediately without the need for a flight engineer. And with ETOPS and high altitude capabilities, the 757 could fly all over the world. Airlines and passengers alike loved the 757. Although production ended in 2004, with about 1,050 produced, the versatility of the aircraft has allowed it to continue flying, with some major operators including Delta still flying 757-300s, and various operators converting them to freighters.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.

This was one of the nicest release of a US Airways aircraft, love the vibrant colors along with the many many combinations they cut off the aircraft.
The beautiful 757 is one of my favorite airplanes. I love the fact that this one is in USAirways colors. I flew for USAir Express at my first airline job. It's neat that this airplane actually came from the America West merger. Awesome tag from a beautiful airplane!
Love this package! Even though it was expensive all of the color combinations from this release made it more than worth it! Great job MotoArt!
These tags are great! The combos from this release are the classic US airways colors and I couldn't be happier with them!
I love these tags. I still think US Airways was one of the nicest looking airlines out there. I'm happy every once in a while that American still does heritage liveries based off this one.
Love this release! Such a great aircraft in an iconic livery too! Great job MA. Couldn't be happier with these!
A nice 757, perhaps not the most special but any 757 is a good one! Some of the tag variants are perhaps priced too high, but the basic versions are still nice!
Fast/expedited shipping. Beautiful tag as all the tags from Motoart. Nicely engraved My first flight on a Boeing 757-200 was with América West. On the early 2000s you could still talk to a human to book a flight. As part of my job I had to take JPV to Orlando/World Disney for a week vacation. My request was very clear: please I want to book a r/t flight (SBA-FFL) with as many stopovers and change of planes as humanly possible. The lady/operator laughed at my request but she accommodated the flight with 8 stopovers and 5 changes of aircraft, plus one evening/overnight in LAS. This tag has the reg. N905AW a must have for me.
Another great release that makes you want them all!
Great commercial release! Have flown US Airways quite a bit during the 1990s and 2000s. Loved being able to get a complete set in the MacDaddy Package! Quality release capturing the essence this once workhorse airline.
I bought one of these since the 757 is one of my favorite aircraft. Needless to say, I'm thrilled!
As a native Ohioan, I had to have a piece of America West's City of Columbus, which later flew for US Airways, an airline I flew quite a bit over the years! A bit pricy, but happy with the tag.
I got this plane tag at OSH and unbeknownst to me until check out, I got a rare tag. the story behind the plane is great and how it has been with some of my favorite airlines and wore some of my favorite liveries. I have this tag on my flight bag so every time I go flying it’s with me.
My dad started with America West Airlines in 2002, went through both mergers, and retired with AA in 2015. He got me into the airline biz at 18, letting me know Swissport Fueling was hiring at our airport. When US Airways was hiring again in 2013, he let me know. Saying "not to put my (my dads) name on my app and get it in asap!" and I've been with them ever since. AWA has always had a special place in my heart and subsequently so has US Airways so when these came up I know I had to get one for myself and one custom engraved for my dad for Father's Day. Let me tell you, the smile on his face when he realized it was an old 757 that we both worked on for years AND had a special note just for him on the back was absolutely priceless! I couldn't be happier to be able to give my dad a personalized gift like this that has so many memories we both can share. I fueled, loaded/unloaded baggage and cargo, and marshaled in/pushed this plane out for near 10 years, and my dad did all the same except fuel it. This tag is beyond awesome and I just hope I can get some more of our fleet when they retire to add to our collection and memories!
Just got the white and still glad I got it. The 757 is my favorite active airliner.
This is a lovely, quality tag though bittersweet to know that the aircraft was broken up. Still, nice that we have pieces to remember her by.
Fast delivery. Look forward to buying more plane tags soon!
Excellent. No better way to break the ice with anyone! I flew N905AW many times at AWA and US Airways. Even though the previous livery was Ohio, the final livery it is still red, white and blue!
