Pilots Captain Robert Pearson and First Officer Maurice Quintal managed to glide the unpowered aircraft to a successful landing at an abandoned race track in Gimli, Manitoba, saving all 69 people aboard. The incident became a symbol of skill, quick thinking, and the extraordinary capabilities of both the aircraft and its crew.
