OUR PLANE'S STORY
N272US took its first flight on September 18, 1969, and was delivered to Northwest Airlines in October ‘69. It faithfully served Northwest for nearly two decades, connecting countless passengers on short and medium-haul routes across the U.S. In 1988, it was briefly leased to Pan American World Airways before rejoining Northwest in 1989. Shortly thereafter, it was retired and stored at Smyrna Airport, until it was rediscovered by MotoArt in 2023.
As the MotoArt team celebrated the discovery of a Pan Am 727 in Smyrna, TN, they were just as fortunate to find N272US, a Northwest 727 that stood next to it. Side by side, the two aircraft were a window to a great era in aviation history. The Boeing 727, with its tri-jet design and versatility, revolutionized commercial aviation, making these PlaneTags true pieces of history.
Add this Northwest Airlines 727 PlaneTag to your collection and celebrate the legacy of the 727, one of the most beloved and impactful aircraft in aviation history. Whether you're a long-time collector or a newcomer, this tag offers a unique way to honor this revolutionary airplane.
