Description

Three identities. One extraordinary aircraft.
Crafted from authentic skin of MH-47G Chinook 05-03761, this PlaneTag preserves a helicopter that evolved from a Vietnam-era CH-47A into an elite Night Stalker aircraft serving with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR). Each individually numbered tag honors nearly six decades of Army aviation history.

OUR PLANE'S STORY
From Vietnam-era heavy lift operations to modern special operations missions, few helicopters have evolved as dramatically as MH-47G 05-03761.
This remarkable aircraft began life as CH-47A 66-19043, serving during the Vietnam era before being rebuilt as CH-47D 82-23767 and ultimately transformed into MH-47G 05-03761, one of the most advanced special operations helicopters ever developed.
Assigned to the elite 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), known as the Night Stalkers, the MH-47G was designed to support demanding missions around the globe. Equipped for long-range operations, in-flight refueling, low-altitude flight, and low-visibility environments, these aircraft have become an essential part of U.S. special operations aviation.
While much of this aircraft's operational history remains classified, its legacy is unmistakable. Over nearly six decades, it evolved alongside Army aviation itself, adapting to new missions, technologies, and challenges across multiple generations of service.
When PlaneTags founder Dave Hall located the aircraft in Delaware, it was relocated for dismantling and preservation. During the process, the team discovered bullet holes in portions of the airframe, a powerful reminder that this helicopter's story extends far beyond serial numbers and specifications. Though the circumstances behind that damage remain unknown, the evidence serves as a tangible connection to the demanding environments in which special operations aircraft often operate.
