The Douglas DC-6 is a classic propliner that defined the golden age of aviation, but this DC-6 has lived a life unlike any other. Built in 1958, it toured North America in the 1960s with The Monkees and Jimi Hendrix, transporting rock & roll royalty across the skies. Later in life, it swapped tour dates for tanker drops, bravely serving as an aerial firefighter, protecting communities across the western United States.
MotoArt has preserved its legacy by crafting authentic PlaneTags from the skin of this very aircraft. With fewer than 2,500 made, these PlaneTags are a rare blend of aviation history, rock nostalgia, and heroic service.

This particular DC-6B, tail number N90739, led a remarkable dual life. In the 1960s, it flew across the country as a charter plane for music icons like The Monkees and Jimi Hendrix, carrying band members and crew during their national tours. Later, it traded music tours for mission-critical flights, transformed into an aerial firefighting tanker—protecting the western U.S. from devastating wildfires.
