OUR AIRCRAFT'S STORY
53-4389 was originally constructed as an H-21B and delivered to the USAF in May 1956. It served at the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards AFB and was redesignated as a CH-21 in 1962. After a distinguished career, it was retired to Davis-Monthan AFB in March 1969 and eventually found a home at the Pima Air & Space Museum.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag.
