OUR PLANE'S STORY
Accepted by the USAF in 1951, 51-0119 served across various bases before being retired to the Bradley Air Museum (now the New England Air Museum). In 1979, a devastating tornado tore through the museum’s outdoor display area, destroying multiple historic aircraft, including 51-0119. The storm’s powerful winds twisted the fuselage and scattered debris across the grounds, leaving little more than wreckage behind.
Only a handful of the 448 C-124 Globemaster IIs built still exist today. Thanks to Walter Soplata’s dedication to rescuing aviation relics, 51-0119 was saved from the scrapyard after its destruction. Decades later, MotoArt unearthed its remains from the overgrowth and debris, preserving its legacy as PlaneTags.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.
