From the skies of Japan to destinations around the world, Boeing 777-300 JA8943 spent nearly 17 years carrying passengers for Japan Airlines.
Crafted from authentic aircraft skin, each individually numbered PlaneTag preserves a tangible piece of this long-serving twin-engine jetliner.
OUR PLANE'S STORY
A new generation of long-range travel
The Boeing 777 helped redefine commercial aviation with its advanced technology, spacious cabin, and twin-engine efficiency. It was the first commercial aircraft designed entirely using computer-aided design, marking a significant milestone in aircraft engineering.
The stretched 777-300 took its first flight on October 16, 1997. Designed to carry more passengers than the original 777-200, it offered airlines greater capacity while maintaining the efficiency and reliability of the 777 family.
Nearly 17 years with Japan Airlines
Built at Boeing's Everett, Washington facility, JA8943 was delivered to Japan Airlines on February 17, 1999.
As a Boeing 777-346, it became part of JAL's widebody fleet during a period of modernization and expansion. The aircraft served until January 2016, when it was retired and stored in San Bernardino, California.
Today, authentic material from JA8943 has been transformed into collectible PlaneTags, allowing a piece of this aircraft's history to continue its journey.
