Description
In the 30 years Atlas Air has been in operation, the titan of the skies has become a global leader in cargo services. Their legacy has been built on the firm foundation of its fleet of Boeing 747s. MotoArt is thrilled to introduce the newest Queen in the fleet - Atlas Air Boeing 747-200 Freighter PlaneTags.
Atlas Air began operations in 1992 when the late founder, Michael Chowdry, envisioned leasing freighter aircraft to other airlines on an ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) contract basis. Atlas Air seized this opportunity in the air cargo sector and created a new industry. The first aircraft was a Boeing 747-200, and the all-Boeing fleet grew from there. Today, Atlas’ fleet includes 40 Boeing 747s (36 747-400s and 4 747-800s), giving them the title of the largest 747 operator currently. Since then the airline has accumulated industry and customer choice awards over the years.
OUR PLANE'S STORY
N522MC, constructed as a 747-200B, was originally delivered to Thai Airways in December 1979. After many years with Thai, N522MC was converted to a 747-200SF (Special Freighter) and was delivered to Atlas Air, Inc. in April 1996. N522MC and their fleet of 747s have delivered millions of pounds of cargo all over the world, elevating the Atlas Mission “To be our Customer’s First Choice and Most Valued Partner.” In March 2012, N522MC was withdrawn from use and stored at MHV. MotoArt acquired this 747 in 2021 and preserved its original fuselage skin to create PlaneTags.
Our Atlas Air Boeing 747-200 Freighter PlaneTags are here and are certain to become sought after by PlaneTags collectors and aviation enthusiasts. Add one to your collection or engrave for a gift.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag.
