OUR AIRCRAFT'S STORY
BuNo 163941 flew with numerous units during its lifespan—most notably with HML/A-169 during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and later with HML/A-267 in Operation Enduring Freedom. Its final assignment was with HML/A-369, the “Gunfighters,” before being preserved by MotoArt in 2025. While many of its mission details remain classified, its combat legacy speaks volumes.
The AH-1W was built to strike fast and hard. Armed with a 20mm cannon, AGM-114 Hellfire and AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles, and advanced night-vision and targeting systems, it brought lethal precision to the battlefield. Compact, agile, and rugged, it delivered critical close air support and escort missions across ship decks, deserts, and mountainous terrain. It was a true backbone of Marine Corps air power.
Add a whirlybird to your collection today. Crafted from the actual skin of BuNo 163941, these PlaneTags are a rare opportunity to own a combat-flown piece of aviation history. No two are exactly alike—and supplies are limited.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag.
