PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This Planetag is cut from a Boeing CH-47 Chinook that was first delivered to the United States Army in September 1968 as a C model serial #68-15814. In 1991 it was then converted to a D model and issued a new serial #91-00234 and assigned to the Army Nation Guard in Stockton, California under Company C - "Delta Schooners". On February 11th, 1998 this was involved in a mid-air collision with a civilian light aircraft.
This American twin-engine, tandem rotor, heavy-lift helicopter, developed by American rotor-craft company Vertol and manufactured by Boeing Vertol (later known as Boeing Rotorcraft Systems), is among the heaviest lifting Western helicopters (capable of lifting up to 50k pounds) - as well as one of the fastest.

Little bit of history when you travel!

Really nice tag with a little history attached to it. Solid, as you would expect from aircraft grade metals, and fun to carry a bit of a helicopter with you! Only thing I would improve on is to maybe have the option of a rubber edge to minimise the noise it makes when swinging on your bags like dogtags.

Great Helicopter

I knew of this story of this Chinook having a mid-air with another aircraft. As a former Chinook pilot, it is wonderful to hold a piece of history and to use it as a personal tag on my fly-a-way bag to boot. Light weight, easy to attach, and fast delivery. Glad I got one.

Owning a piece of an Icon
