“I have seldom met an airplane I didn’t like.”
    - Clay Lacy

It doesn’t seem impossible that Clay Lacy is one of the top three pilots in the world logging the most flying hours, not when you consider he piloted his first aircraft at the age of 12 and earned a flight instructor rating by 16. Between his career as a United Airlines pilot with 41½ years of incident-free flying and time spent in the California Air National Guard, Clay has managed to fully immerse himself in the business of innovation – even revolutionizing air-to-air cinematography with his Astrovision camera system which was used in Top Gun, Armageddon, Con Air and many more blockbusters.

A philanthropist holding 29 world speed records, multiple inductions into aviation halls of fame, as well as innumerable awards and honors of flight and even writing, Clay Lacy has been called the “flyingest man in the whole world”, renowned as one of the most versatile pilots in the history of powered flight.

    OUR PLANES STORY

Despite all the anticipated havoc of the Y2K “millennium bug”, it should come as no surprise that an aviation legend and industry pioneer like Clay Lacy would be raring to rush headlong into the unknown, even as the rest of the world tentatively celebrated with bated breath. Determined to be the first to greet the year 2000 and finally see what all the fuss was about, Clay flew 40 guests in this Boeing 727 toward the most speculated new year in memory. Flying from California to Hawaii, and then on to Midway Island, Clay guided his plane across the International Date Line just in time to greet the very first moments of January 1st, 2000, with all aboard triumphantly soaring into the future before all others around the globe. Clay then landed on Midway Island, celebrating the end of 1999 and ensuring he and his passengers were also the last people to ring in the New Year again.

In celebration of the living legend Clay Lacy and his spirit of adventure, you can own a piece of Y2K history with a commemorative PlaneTag cut from the fuselage of this monumental “Midway 2000” plane.

      FLYING WITH HOLLYWOOD

What do Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr. Kirk Douglas, Cary Grant, Shirley MacLaine, Mia Farrow, Johnny Carson, and John Travolta all have in common? They are among the many celebrities flown by Clay Lacy. In 1964, Clay flew the first private jet into Van Nuys Airport to offer demonstration flights to the Hollywood celebrity set, leading him to fly "just about everyone in Hollywood". Forever changing the standard of private travel for celebrities, executives, politicians and more, there is hardly a piece of the modern aviation world Clay Lacy hasn't transformed with his vision.

      Handmade Aviation Tags

      PlaneTags are:

      • Authentic - made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal.
      • Unique -  each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags.
      • Collectible - each one is numbered in a limited edition and comes attached to a display card.
      • Versatile - comes with a durable metal ring, strong enough to attach to luggage or keys or display.

      - Please Note: Due to limited quantities, combination colors you may receive will vary.

*Important Notice – Please Read Carefully

Due to the customization production time, please allow 7-10 business days for order processing on custom products.
