Snag some luck right out of the skies with this historic Boeing 767. On July 23rd, 1983, this miracle plane bearing tail number 604 for Air Canada ran out of fuel at 41,000 feet. Captain Robert (Bob) Pearson and crew avoided major catastrophe, managing to glide the aircraft safely through the air to make an unheard of emergency landing at Gimli.
Cut and engraved directly from the skin of the historic Gimli Glider, this limited edition, one-of-a-kind Plane Tag has been resurrected from legend to live on as a versatile and practical memento. Now, you too can hold this token of luck in the palm of your hand.
Join us for a special broadcast with MotoArt owner Dave Hall, along with special guests, including Gimli Glider author and expert Wade Nelson.
PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.

I have this tag on my everyday carry bag for work. I knew of the Gimli Glider. I have even been to Gimli, although nothing to do with this flight. What this flight crew did was nothing short of phenomenal. You have likely read that other pilots in simulators failed. So what does Air Canada do? They PUNISHED the crew. Idiots they are, but they had to reinstate because the crew were getting so many accolades from their peers. Once retired, Air Canada should have put this plane in a garden with a holy water fountain so that people could go rub it for luck. No, they junked it, and I am beyond pleased to think I have a small piece of it so I will always remember what that crew did and this tag further prompts me to do that. Thanks for making this and thanks for making the tag available.
Love that I can own a piece of the historic Gimli Glider
Gift was for my nephew. He liked it. I was not impressed with the delay in service. Gift was not received for Christmas.
I bought this for my sister who is obsessed with aviation crash investigations, & who loves the incredible story of how pilots prevented this plan crash from becoming a disaster by gliding it to the ground. She was absolutely thrilled with being able to own a piece of this very special plane. Thank you!
I am using mine as a key fob.
Excellent! All 3 items came in a timely fashion & an excellent keep sake. Well done Plane Tags
Great product! It is a bit expensive, but it is also a piece of history. My Gimli Gilder tag is my good luck charm!
I bought it as a gift for my husband. He loved it.
I think you guys need to consider using either FedEx or UPS because this is ridiculous. I still haven’t received it...
Very pleased with it. It's so cool having a piece of aviation history in my house.
after a month passed, item not arrive yet. stop USPS for international order. weird feeling.
The Gimli Glider was the second plane tag that I have purchased from MotoArt and it won't be the last. My first tag was a C-130 that was lost in the mail. After notifying the company that the tag was not received MotoArt sent a replacement tag proving they are committed to customer service. True to specification details I received a high quality product that met all of my expectations. The Gimli Glider tag was received quickly after being ordered and was also of the highest quality. Now I own two quality plane tags of historical significance and I could not be happier. Would I recommend the Gimli Glider plane tag being offered by MotorArt, absolutely. Will I purchase from them again, absolutely! I wonder what my next choice will be...
Good souvenir of a cockpit jumpseat ride on AC C-GAUP. We pushed back from the gate at YYZ with C-GAUN, the "Gimli Glider" next to us. Heard the whole story about the Glider from the crew as we made our way west!
this is just wonderful plane tag which holds a lot of history in it ,, all thanks to Dave and his crew at planetags thank you
It is a gift for my son. Air Canada maintenance. I'm sure he will be surprised. Thanks
Hi. I still have not received the items
Very bad, since I bought it, it have been 1 month, but I still not receive it
when I read the history of this plane I immediately wanted to buy a piece and include it in my collection.
Great items and service! I'd buy it again!
Can't say enough great things about dealing with MotoArt Plane Tags, I had an issue however the customer service staff resolved it quickly, excellent service. Shipping to Canada was delayed most likely due to Covid 19, took 40 days or so to arrive but well worth the wait I love my tags. Looking forward to adding new tags to my collection in the near future, thank you so much.
