Boeing 767 Plane

Snag some luck right out of the skies with this historic Boeing 767. On July 23rd, 1983, this miracle plane bearing tail number 604 for Air Canada ran out of fuel at 41,000 feet. Captain Robert (Bob) Pearson and crew avoided major catastrophe,  managing to glide the aircraft safely through the air to make an unheard of emergency landing at Gimli.

Cut and engraved directly from the skin of the historic Gimli Glider, this limited edition, one-of-a-kind Plane Tag has been resurrected from legend to live on as a versatile and practical memento. Now, you too can hold this token of luck in the palm of your hand.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.

    Gimli glider

Very pleased with product, but on arrival in the UK I was told it wouldn’t be delivered until I’d paid $17 customs duty. I’ve ordered many things over the years from the US and this is the first time this has happened so maybe you should warn international customers that this may happen. Not your fault I know, and a great product.

    Order not received

Over 1 month after ordering and paying the item, I have not yet received the shipment. The tracking website shows the item has not moved in almost one month. I sent two emails to customer service asking for an update and received no response. Instead, I received an email asking me to write this review.

A piece of commercial aviation history

When I first saw this I knew that my friend who loves commercial aircraft and the history of commercial flight would appreciate this tag very much. He is also Canadian and very aware of this story. It truly is a piece of aviation history. The design is beautiful, the tag is finished very nicely and it's obvious that this company is passionate about aviation. I can't wait to gift it to my friend.

    Super cool!

For some reason the story of the Gimli glider really stuck with me when I first heard it. It's one of my favorite aviation stories. When I learned I could get a tag, I ordered one as soon as possible. The tag itself is a good size and very smooth around the edges. It comes with a sturdy ring to attach to keys or whatever else. The label on the back accepts ink from a normal sharpie, although it will bleed a little bit. There were some tiny superficial scratches in the paint which reflect some of the wear and tear the plane has been through during its lifespan. Very cool tag.
