The Queen of the Skies has landed in Charlotte. MotoArt is proud to present limited-edition PlaneTags made from KLM’s Boeing 747 PH-BFD, a legendary aircraft that once connected continents and now lives on as part of Charlotte Douglas International Airport’s aviation-themed terminal expansion.
These tags are more than collectibles. They’re a chance to hold a piece of history from one of the world’s most iconic aircraft.
OUR PLANE'S STORY
The Boeing 747-406M, registration PH-BFD, was delivered to KLM Royal Dutch Airlines in 1989 and named City of Dubai. As a Combi variant, she carried both passengers and freight across long-haul international routes, proudly serving under both KLM and KLM Asia banners. For nearly three decades, PH-BFD embodied the global reach and elegance of the 747 before retiring in 2017.
Rather than disappearing into history, part of PH-BFD’s fuselage was transformed by MotoArt into a KLM-branded information booth inside CLT’s terminal lobby. Now, another part of her story is yours to collect, through these exclusive PlaneTags.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag.
