OUR PLANE'S STORY
CU-T1294, a Soviet-made AN-24RV operated by Cubana de Aviación, became infamous when it was hijacked on March 31, 2003 during a flight from Cuba's Isla de la Juventud to Havana. A hijacker, armed and demanding passage to the United States, forced the aircraft to land in Key West, Florida. It remained at Key West International Airport for over 20 years, and was used for police and firefighting training before falling into ruins.
The Antonov An-24, a twin-engine turboprop aircraft known for its ruggedness and versatility, served short to medium haul routes for Cubana de Aviación during turbulent political times. Preserving this window to the past in 2024, the history of CU-T1294 will be treasured and shared for decades to come.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag.
