During the 1970’s the U.S. Army held an intense competition to select a replacement for the Bell UH-1 Iroquois. Three Boeing Vertol prototypes were among the contenders - introducing 73-21657, a YUH-61.

73-21657 was built for Boeing Vertol's entry into the Utility Tactical Transport Aircraft System (UTTAS) competition. Its design featured a four-bladed, hingeless rotor system made from composite materials, which reduced weight and maintenance, and enhanced its performance and agility.
Although the YUH-61 ultimately lost to the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk, the legacy of the YUH-61 set new standards and expectations for military helicopter design, influencing the evolution of rotorcraft for decades to come. In 2022, MotoArt found this long lost prototype and created PlaneTags from the damaged boom, preserving the cockpit as a whole.

*Important Notice – Please Read Carefully
PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.

The tag options on this bird were over the top. The tape tags were extremely cool, as well as the split color tags.
This release had so many great variations with them! The black tape is the most unique as its actuals tape! But the tri-combos and rivets from the black tape are so unique and make some of the best helicopter tags that. exist.
I first saw this helicopter at the Mojave Boneyard while on tour with Dave and some friends. And being so rare I just could not pass up having some of them. I bought 5 tags and was amazed at the variety of them. My "tape" tag has two numbers on it and is probably the best tape tag of the lot. I give this release Five stars.
Excellent tag! The "splotchy" variants are very aesthetically pleasing. I like the story of this bird, too- it's interesting to consider the "what-ifs" if the military had adopted the UH-61 over the UH-60.
I’ve gotten 4 tags, two black tape and two rivets. Im super happy about the rivets and one of the black tape. But I’m even happier when the other black tape was number 88 of 1000! I really recommend this tag!
I think this is my first tape on a tag...very cool! So glad I ordered this variant.
