Vought F4U-5 Corsair - 123168
Description
Description
With a very limited edition of only 100 PlaneTags, this F4U-5 Corsair, bureau number 123168 PlaneTag was built in 1947 and was delivered to the US Navy in October 1948. The Corsair was built primarily for aircraft carrier deployment. Due to the difficulty at sea, the F4U Corsair was quickly adopted by the Marines for land based operations. This plane was made famous by "Pappy Boyington” and his “Black Sheep Squadron.” The kill ratio against the Mitsubishi Zero was 12 to 1.
MotoArt was able to secure the skins off this F4U Corsair from Mr. Vlado Lenoch earlier this year. He was kind enough to sell us skins off the P-51 and F4U after their restorations as he was a fan our PlaneTag series. Unfortunately Vlado passed away this summer doing what he loves most; flying his P-51 Mustang in front of thousands of fans watching him at airshows around the country.
*Important Notice – Please Read Carefully
PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.
* Please Note: international shipping takes 8-15 days / no duties or taxes included.
