The release of our first Messerschmitt PlaneTag offers something a little different – the chance for our aviation enthusiasts to assist in the restoration and preservation of aviation history. Proceeds from the sale of these authentic Bf 109 PlaneTags will be donated to the Spirit of Flight Foundation in support of their mission to restore the notorious Bf 109 Messerschmitt, Werk Nummer 10145, as well as their charitable work.
The 10145 was built in Leipzig, Germany in 1942, serving as a Norwegian patrol aircraft which flew the Murmansk sector of Russia. The aircraft was shot down in aerial combat with multiple Soviet fighters during an escort mission for Ju 88 bomber aircraft on July 19th, 1942. The aircraft was flown by FW. Leopold Knier, who bailed out at an altitude of about 3000 meters after it was crippled by the Soviet P-40. The aircraft remained in Northern Russia until it was rescued by Warbird Recovery in the winter of 1994, and is currently under restoration for the Spirit of Flight Foundation.

*Important Notice – Please Read Carefully
PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.

I love this plane tag, its awesome to have this little piece of history.
Great to have an actual piece of history...I don’t dare use it as a key chain because some of these pieces have tendency to wear off till it’s just a blank piece of aluminum
The coloring looks very nice and build is solid.
Amazing to hold in my hand and imagine this plane's history. Thankfully, in a dogfight with a P-51 Planetag, it lost!
Great! Fantastic piece of History!
Perfect piece by airoplane.
Great job - thank you!
I received the tag today. Took 3 weeks from US to Germany, i.e. until delivery. Was able to track the delivery at any time! It's a great piece of history and I linked it to my car keys. Good service and fast/nice communication. Will not be my last purchase.
If I was you, I would turn off the automatic email (that arrives one month after purchase) asking for a review that is then instantly published online. As far as I can see from the other comments and my current tracking info, all Southern Hemisphere orders are sitting in one U.S. City for at least a month.
Bought it for a fellow aviation geek and he loved it! Good to know the $ is going towards a good cause.
owning a piece of an airplane with such a long life behind it is incredible
Grey service and great product!
This was one of the backbone aircraft of the Luftwaffe during World War II from the Battle of Britain to the protection of Germany toward the end of the war. I marvel at the technical advancement and engineering of both sides were only 15 years earlier biplanes stretched with canvas were the technical advancement. The power of this aircraft along with the Spitfire, and the P 51 Mustang is something to behold. more please
Great product! Couldn’t be happier!
Received through the mail yesterday after ordering on 14 Aug 2020. For those still waiting, hang in there, Covid really delayed all the processes. Anyway, very happy with the item and surprised with 2 contrasting presentations. Can't complain about the quality given its history. Had my card ready now if SR-71 pieces are available.
I saw this planetag on the website.had too purchase it.its rare to see German planetags.hope u guys find more German planes so u can share the history of this planes.love this planetags history in your pocket
As always it's nice to own a small piece of history
Loved how the skin has the pitting corrosion effect. Such a lovely and tough tag. Thanks for the quick delivery!
I was anxious to receive this item to add to my aviation tag display. When it arrived I was disappointed to see a wide silver scrape across the front face. I appreciate that this is from an old aircraft and expect that it will have marks and imperfections but this scrape across the front made the piece unsuitable for my collection. Had I purchase it for a key chain or luggage tag then that would be different, although I would not have paid $135 Canadian for a key chain. Unfortunatly I had to return it at an additional cost. I decided to “spin the wheel” and re order hoping for better luck this time.
Great item to own, more WW2 aircraft please.
