NOTE:
The Beechcraft Starship is a twin turboprop general aviation aircraft. In 1980 Beech began developing the Starship to cement its position as the dominant force in the turboprop market, having already wrested this title with its King Air family. With oil shortages and recession in recent headlines, turboprops promised fuel and cost efficiency. And by using composite construction the plane could be lighter, faster and even more fuel efficient.
The Starship continues to be one of the most technologically advanced aircraft of its kind. Designed by famed aircraft designer Burt Rutan and Scaled Composites, it features a variable sweep forward wing, two rear mounted pusher turboprop engines that provide a quiet, jet-like smooth ride, digital avionics, and an all glass cockpit. It was also the first all-composite business class aircraft ever built. The first concept plane flew in 1983, but the full size aircraft itself experienced costly and time consuming design changes, production delays and other issues that kept it grounded until 1986. Between 1988 and 1995, only 53 Starships were built.
In spite of its futuristic, beautiful design, it was a financial failure. Its production costs led to a high sticker price, so very few were sold. Beechcraft’s parent corp Raytheon grounded the fleet and recalled them all. All but a handful were scrapped at Marana. A couple are still privately flown and maintained, and an additional few are displayed in museums.
N515JS, construction number NC-52, was built in 1994 and certified airworthy on January 27, 1995. It was leased to Osborn Energy from 1997 to 2003, then recalled and stored at Pinal Park, Marana, AZ with the remaining fleet. MotoArt acquired it in 2021, preserving this once promising, incredible looking aircraft and its history in the PlaneTags fleet. Read more about it on our blog.
Don’t miss out on adding a Starship to your collection. These PlaneTags are especially unique as they are cut from its carbon fiber composite construction. With only 53 Starships ever built, these collectibles are a rare treat for any collector.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.

My keychain came with a large chip/missing piece on the front. It was clearly damaged. I emailed and asked for a replacement and was told that it was not damaged. It was missing a big chunk out of the front so it WAS damaged.
My tag arrived quickly and weĺl-packaged. I love the shape of the Starship. It was too bad that the use of hot, heavy CRT displays (and the requisite added weight of higher-capacity cooling systems) turned a modern marvel into an "also-ran."
It's a keychain. Get over it.
This is a really cool tag and I love seeing the honeycomb pattern on the back. Feels high quality. Great packaging too with the history of the aircraft and even the specific plane. My only complaint is that in the picture online the etching on the tag with the plane and wording is black, when in reality it's a light grey, therefore less legible. You can still certainly read it but I think the picture on the website makes it more clear than it really is and is misrepresentitive.
I love all five of my new plane tags! I am trying to resist buying everyone you have! That however, would lead to my kids only seeing me in the weekends!
I love the plane tag so much because of the history my grandpa was a flight tester on the starship and I live by Beechcraft so this is amazing
Excellent tag!!. Great having a piece of aviation history..Still in awe of the construction and appearance.
This is my repeat purchase, now I have the full collection. Somehow I'm intrigued with the material and may even buy more :p
Rare Material used in the construction Of this Aircraft Honeycomb Tag Great Piece of history
Love the tag, it displays well. Thanks so much for the work done and an awesome hobby to be a part of.
PlaneTags are nice mementos of aviation history. Many years ago I had the privilege of flying on a Starship. This tag and others I have purchased are ways of connecting to events of the past.
Loved this tag. The back was what made this one unique with the honeycomb type structure. Very light and my colors were perfect.
Ever since the Beech Starship began flying and was eventually "chased from the skies", I have been fascinated by the design... I feell fortunate to have been able to acquire a very small part of such a GREAT DESIGN!! Tag is a reall KEEPER!!
Every purchase I have made from Plane Tags has been awesome! The quality is always great and very professional looking.
I truly enjoy having a maroon and white Beechcraft Starship Planetag in my collection, and the service from MotoArt is always excellent
Very nice piece of a fuselage made of composite material instead of aluminum alloy. As composites replace metals in more and more aerospace components, the Planetags of the future will likely resemble this piece of a Starship.
A great and unique piece of aviation history. So pleased that saw this as well and preserved it for many to enjoy!
I love collecting Planetags and I have been doing it for years. They have top quality products and great customer service. They are a world-class company and they continually come up great products.
This is one of my all time favourites. It’s got to be the purest white tag ever and the engraving is, as ever, top notch!
Nothing but great experience
