Celebrate with PlaneTags half a century of Qantas Boeing 747s with this limited edition Gold tag. As Qantas retires its fleet of Boeing 747s after nearly 50 years of service, we celebrate this enduring airline and its memorable livery. The gold leading edge trim was part of Qantas Spirit of Australia livery since 1984. It was created before Qantas’ launch of Boeing 767 service and remained until it was redesigned in 2007.
Gold trim fit for a Queen of the Skies
Although the satin gold stripe and iconic kangaroo were a joy to spot in the skies, the gold paint was removed from the livery for the redesign because it added weight. For the next design and those after, paint was kept to a minimum to save on fuel costs. We were able to create a small run of Gold PlaneTags, and now offer them as a special limited edition.
*Important Notice – Please Read Carefully
PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.
